A classic bedroom with organic cotton linen

Britons moving into a new home or looking to give their existing rooms an update may be keen to create a smart and classy feel that is both mature but not overpowering.
And purchasing classic white organic cotton bed linen could be one of the first things that sees a bedroom receiving a timely makeover.
The cotton plant used in organic cotton duvets, pillow cases and mattress protectors is grown without the use of pesticides and fertilisers and has not been genetically modified, making it a greener choice for any bedroom as well as a comfortable and sophisticated-looking one.
Where next?
But what are the next steps Britons can take to create a classy boudoir without breaking the bank?
The Independent recently recommended that gathering a book collection together and displaying it on light-up shelves in the bedroom "will all add to the style and feel of a room".
And one of the benefits of putting up shelves in the bedroom is that it can provide additional space for Britons to hide their clutter, while ensuring that the room reflects their own interests.
Furthermore, should homeowners feel the need to redecorate again, the shelves can be used to display any new ornaments or pictures purchased to compliment the new design scheme.
Do it yourself
In her recent channel 4 series Kirstie's Homemade Home, Kirstie Allsop showed viewers how to makeover their bedroom without breaking the bank, by repairing, salvaging or making new fixtures and fittings.
At her new house in Devon, the property expert and TV presenter turned her hand to making over the building's five run-down bedrooms - with one of the new rooms sticking to a light and airy white and neutral colour scheme.
Channel 4 Home's Andrea Dean advises homeowners who feel wall-to-wall white is not for them that cream can be a soothing colour palette. And she adds that bed linen and other accessories are all perfect ways of adding a splash of additional colour.
Indeed, by purchasing a new bed spread, consumers may feel as though they have created a whole new look for their bedroom, without having to splash out for a can of paint.
Keeping it neutral
Other design ideas offered by the Channel 4 website specifically for neutral bedrooms include using a stencil or wall sticker to create features on the wall space.
And brightly coloured cushions can also add colour when placed on a bed, if the bed itself is done out in neutral white organic cotton bed linen. However, a neutral colour palette does not have to end at white, cream and beige, with silver, glass and mirrors also fitting comfortably into the scheme.
By taking the plunge with such a colour scheme, homeowners may find that they never think of neutral as bland again.
