Brighten bedrooms this summer with neon shades
Posted: 24 June 2009
The summer is here and consumers can bring the outdoors in by giving their bedrooms a bright new look with the season's latest trend - neon.
And with such a dramatic look, interior design enthusiasts may wish to embrace block colours interspersed with neutral shades and could kit their bed out with plain dyed bed linens which is sure to make an impact.
Making a summer statement
Integrating neon shades into a bedroom design theme is sure to make a real statement about the person sleeping there. Carpet group Fun On The Floor states that this season's hottest shades are yellow, fuchsia, coral, emerald and cobalt blue, which it notes can transform the look and feel of a room.
And its spokesperson David Cormack said it was great to see bolder and brighter colour choices being encouraged. "Neon is the hottest trend of summer 2009, with bright colours present on the catwalks, on the high street and now making their way into homes," the group claims.
Building blocks for the perfect bedroom
Painting the walls in neon shades or investing in a neon carpet is sure to make an impact and make a bedroom feel even brighter and more summery than the garden.
However, neon colours work best when they are complimented by neutral block colours - such as white and black - and homeowners may find the bed is the perfect place to start in getting this balance right.
At elinens, consumers can choose from a range of pillow cases, bed spreads, plain dyed bedding and other luxury bed linen in these colours and more.
But for a real touch of glamour, Britons may wish to choose the luxurious satin bed set from Country Club at elinens. Available in black, white, cream or silver, this bedding will not clash with the summer-themed colour scheme of the bedroom, but will also give any neon brights a run for their money.
