Getting Enough Sleep Could Help with Weightloss

Could Egyptian cotton bedding help with weight-loss?

While people who tuck themselves into a bed fitted with Egyptian cotton bedding each night may never wish to get out, by getting a few hours extra sleep they could find themselves with a new and improved figure.

This is according to a recent report by Glamour Magazine, which tells its readers that getting a minimum of seven and a half hours sleep every night could see them shifting the pounds.

The magazine's Jenny Stamos Kovacs explains that individuals can make the regime simple for themselves by writing down the time they have to get up in the morning and counting back seven and a half hours - with this being the time they should start to fall asleep.

Making a bed up with luxury bed linen may create an inviting place to get some shut-eye, but Britons are also advised to get into a bedtime regime to get relaxed, which may include light reading, a warm bath or some stretching.

Sleeping off the pounds

Ms Kovacs notes that consuming caffeine and alcohol shortly before turning in for the night could prove detrimental to the regime. While she advises that people do not drink coffee after 14:00 BST, she states that although alcohol can cause drowsiness, it prevents deep sleep.

However, every person's sleep patterns are different, according to the National Sleep Foundation. This means that a person who regularly sleeps for longer than seven and a half hours a night without waking may need more sleep for the diet to work.

With this in mind, diet-conscious individuals should not lose hope if it takes them a while to identify how much sleep they need each night and what works best for them, Ms Kovacs explains.

A number of volunteers got involved in the Glamour weight-loss plan and found that they all managed to successfully shift some unwanted weight.

Creating a welcoming bed

Those who want to try out the regime for themselves may find that giving their bed a makeover makes it a more exciting place to spend those additional hours.

New luxury bed linen could help with this and Egyptian cotton linen in particular can help to create some of the softest cotton sheets thanks to the material's fineness and strength.

This could help more people to doze off and get those all-important seven and a half hours of snooze time.
