Contemporary Bedroom Design

The Contemporary bedroom design is characterised by clean, sleek and crisp lines broken up by specific tones like coffee coloured woods, brushed aluminium or blonde woods. This is further enhanced using sleek furniture and platform beds with neutral colour bedding. For the more adventurous, perhaps bolder colours such as avocado, cocoa, turquoise and orange. One striking design taken up by some customers is the all white look- white walls, white rugs, white bedding, white furniture, white accessories and flowing white curtains.

Lighting can be an important accent in your modern bedroom designs. It's important to add ambiance and accent lighting, but using the right style can also help to decorate the room and give it the right feel. And don't forget accents for your contemporary bedroom design. Use sleek vases and bowls with an interesting shape and in your accent colors to add some punch around the room.

Contemporary bedroom designs favor solid color bedding that can be in different shades of neutral colors. Instead of pattern add interest by buying good quality bedding that is made from materials with an interesting texture like a microsuede or satin. Crisp white sheets of a high count cotton will look great and feel great too! Take a look at our ultimate luxury 800 Count Egyptian bed linen.

Hotel Chic
A definitive trend in 2006 was the hotel chic bedroom look. Many of our customers are pleased to know this style is set to continue in 2007. This spring, why not revamp your bedroom to emulate the modern minimalist living environment: clean, crisp bedlinen, sleek interesting accessories and soft pastel shades. Why not take a look at our exceptional 550 count egyptian Satin Stripe Duvet Set to complete that opulent 5 Star hotel ambience..

Decorating with Blue
The right blue is soothing- but you need to follow a few rules. Blues with a hint of violet or a pinky tint have a warmer effect and can even be used in rooms that don't get much natural light. Blues with a cool green tinge are fine for a room that gets a lot of sun, where they'll create a relaxing atmosphere. If in doubt, go for pinky blues on walls and use more intense shades for accents, such as cushions, so you don't overpower the space.

Textures and Layers.
For some years now, textures and layers have been at the forefront of bedroom fashion. Satin bedspreads combined with mohair throws and faux suede cuffs with satin trims have been common place for a few seasons. experiment yourself with fluffy cushions and smooth satin upon an Egyptian cotton duvet. You can create that 5 star look at home by adding extra pillows and cushions - just throw them on the floor as you climb into bed and throw them back on in the morning - it doesn't take as long as you think!

Chocolate and Duck Egg Blue.
Chocolate has been holding its own for a while now and duck egg blue was last year's winner. This year sees them come together to create a tantalising combination which is both sumptuous and fresh. Why not try it out yourself - and don't forget to add those yummy chocolate feather cushions that are everywhere at the moment.

Q: How Do I Add Colour to My All White Bedroom?
I was recently asked by Sadie in Manchester how she could add colour to her all white bedroom. Her dilemma was that she had fallen in love with one of our chocolate brown bedspreads but did not want to go through the hassle of re-decorating her room which was all white. She felt that adding such a strong colour would be too much. My advice to her was not to be afraid of adding this colour- the key is in the accessories! Make sure that you add accessories to your room such as a vase or bowl which is the same deep colour. This ensures that the colour is distributed around the room and makes your eye wander around rather than focus solely on the strongly coloured bed. Combined with mid tonal cushions and you will have a look to die for. Sadie completed these simple instructions and is so pleased with her new look, "I go to bed early these days and read a book, just to be in my new room which I adore."
Many people are in the same situation, wanting to add colour after the years of neutral fashions - don't be afraid of strong colour - just accessorise and make it work!!!
