Egyptian cotton bedding 'can lead to better sleep'
With all the stresses and strains that come with everyday life, it is important that people are able to get enough rest and are able to sleep comfortably to feel refreshed for a new day. And for those who are having trouble nodding off, some new Egyptian cotton bedding could be a wise investment.
Writing in an Egyptian cotton blog, Nile Lily notes that there may be "a hundred different factors" that can cause people to have a restless night's sleep, including physical issues and sleeping disorders. However, she notes that people may be unable to get a good night's rest because of their bedding.
Egyptian cotton bedding could help people sleep easy
Ms Lily then goes on to recommend that tired homeowners craving a good night's sleep invest in some new Egyptian cotton bedding, specifically Egyptian cotton pillowcases. "We often don't put a lot of thought into our pillowcases, but in truth these are the most important because they're positioned below the head. Pillowcases that are itchy, scratchy, or contain chemicals or pesticides can cause discomfort or even cause allergies to flare up," she goes on to say.
High quality pillowcases made from Egyptian cotton can lead to better quality rest, she says - and homeowners could find Egyptian cotton pillowcases so comfortable, they may consider Egyptian cotton sheets too.
So why choose Egyptian cotton bedding?
Readers of the Egyptian cotton bedding blog are told that the cotton is "renowned for its softness and breathability". "There's nothing better than sleeping in a comfortable bed with light and airy sheets," the writer notes.
US home furnishing company Anippe agrees with Nile Lily's view on Egyptian cotton bedding. The company comments that Egyptian cotton "has an established reputation" for being the best type of cotton in the world.
Why is Egyptian cotton so sought after?
According to Anippe, Egyptian cotton has not gained such a good reputation without reason. The firm notes that there are a number of reasons why Egyptian cotton is superior to other types. These include the length of the fibre used to make it, as well as the strength of the fibre.
As well as this, Egyptian cotton has a high level of absorption, which the company says allows it to give "deeper, brighter and more resistant colours" to sheets made from it.
The risk of uneasy sleep
And while the comfort factor of a bed may tempt people into buying Egyptian cotton sheets, homeowners could also be interested to learn of the health risks which have been linked to lack of shut eye.
Last year, a study from the US National Center for Health Statistcs revealed that those who sleep less than six hours a night are more likely to be obese. In total, more than a third of the 87,000 adults surveyed who were obese got less than six hours sleep a night. As well as this, those who sleep the least were found to both smoke and drink more.
