Feeling blue with plain dyed bedlinen

Spoilt for choice at elinens

Keeping the feel and temperature of a bedroom down during the hot summer months may all be a question of picking the right colour scheme.

Purchasing plain dyed bedlinens in a selection of blue shades and painting the walls in a complementary colour could be the first step towards getting a cool night's slumber.

Indeed, Sarah Warwick, for Channel 4 Homes, states that blue is the "perfect choice" for creating a bedroom as it is invigorating to wake up to but soothing when falling asleep.

Got the blues?

When giving a bedroom a makeover by opting for different shades of blue, Ms Warwick urges that it is important consumers complement the colour with the right fabrics and furniture.

Luckily, browsing the stock on offer at elinens may leave Britons feeling spoilt for choice.

There they can pick from plain dyed bedlinens in a range of colours - including blue - that also come in a selection of materials, such as Egyptian cotton, Egyptian cotton blend, Percale cotton and polycotton. And as many consumers may already be aware, making a bed with natural cotton bedding can be one of the cooler ways to sleep at night.

Picking colours to match mood

While Ms Warwick asserts the relaxing yet energising effects of a blue bedroom, writer Andrea Dean points out that there are plenty of other shades that are sure to get people out on the right side of the bed in the morning.

Among these are yellow, turquoise and cranberry and she states that Britons concerned about painting their entire room in this shade may choose to make a feature of one wall using the colour instead.

Homeowners may also wish to keep in mind before they grab the paint that natural light can affect how the colour appears so it is a good idea to do a test and see how the shade looks in both daylight and at night.

And a visit to elinens may turn up the perfect plain dyed bedlinen to match the colour choice.

Ms Warwick offers one more piece of advice to homeowners considering making over their bedroom: "Do check that your partner is happy with your choice, or bedtime might not be as restful as you'd planned."
