Bedroom should 'always be a compromise'
Published: 15 April 2009
Couples who are frequently at war with one another over home decor ought to agree on shared spaces such as the bedroom, picking neutral colours for bed linen and duvet covers, yet having more personality elsewhere in the home.
A major organisation has given some tips regarding the way to decorate a shared house, highlighting the importance of compromise in the bedroom. The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) stated that when it came to spaces which had to be shared, people should make an agreeable choice, such as with duvet covers, bedding and curtains.
However, elsewhere in the house is much more open for debate.
Member of the organisation Patti Lindberg said: "The rooms that you live in all the time really have to show more of you because that's where you are.
"But occasional rooms, that's a place where you can have a little bit more personality and be a little bit more edgy."
The ASID was founded in 1975 and it the largest professional group for the industry in the world.
