Kids should use bed linen to 'be individual'
Published: 20 April 2009
When children share a bedroom, they ought to use separate bedding to establish their own style, with differing duvet covers, pillows and bedspreads all contributing to the effect of personality and independence, it is said.
A famous interior designer has listed a number of ways to help children become more likely to share a room and assert their independence.Linda Barker, who is well-known for her appearances on BBC's Changing Rooms, told the Daily Mirror that lots of people are downsizing their house in the current climate, meaning that many children may end up in the same space.
She noted that children need their own interests on display, with parents encouraged to allow them to store their own toys and other items personal to them.
The expert emphasised that they should also have choice when selecting their own bed linen, bedspreads and curtains.
One child not getting a choice in their bedroom decor is the expected child of Wayne Rooney, with the Premiership footballer making plans to decorate the room out in the royal blue colours of Everton.
