Bedrooms, due to their personalised nature, should do nothing other than reflect the person who sleeps in there whether it be through bed linen, pillows, duvet covers or other bedding - after all, it has to be comfortable by its very nature.

Owner 'should be reflected in their bed' People ought to inject a bit more personality into their bedrooms if they are to get pure comfort out of it, an expert recommends.

Making his thoughts and feelings known to the Inquirer, Jie Pambid, the director of external affairs at the Philippine School of Interior Design (PSID), said that the bedroom will always remain a personal space and should be treated as such, unlike the living or dining room.

Mr Pambid explained the importance of bed linen in the whole affair, stating: "The bedroom is your personal space.

"You use it everyday. Don't be afraid to go for colours and pieces that suit you."

Simple neutral colours can be abandoned, he emphasised, though bedding must always be considered as the bed is the focal point of the room.

Fionnuala Johnston, the design manager at B&Q, recently recommended that pastel colours be incorporated into a spring colour scheme, as this makes the room feel warm and relaxing.
