Separate beds 'are solution for many couples'
Published: 06 April 2009
Despite bed being seen as one of the more romantic locations for a relationship, many couples are taking to separate sleeping arrangements with their own comforters and luxurious bed linen to get their rest.
Although many people desire the closeness that can be gained from a co-sleeping arrangement, a lot of people are avoiding it for the sake of a good night's rest, one columnist has stated.Speaking to the Times, Zoe Strimpel noted that her problems in sharing a bed with her partner are problematic and can be triggered by a simple movement.
She stated that Diane von Furstenberg and the Queen prefer this way to rest, although her boyfriend fails to agree, despite having access to the most comfortable bed linen money can buy.
Despite this, Ms Strimpel said that a survey by the National Sleep Foundation understood that nearly one in four married couples adopt this strategy now, up from 12 per cent in 2001.
The key to a good sleeping dynamic is to make sure that partners get to bed at the same time, with chores shared evenly and any problems discussed to ensure that private time is spent away from this crucial moment in the day, according to Professor Paul Rosenblatt, speaking to Bottom Line Secrets.
