Bed linen is 'the ideal place to start when transforming a room'

New bedspreads are a good starting-point for redecoration, it has been noted.
Those transforming the look of their bedrooms this summer should begin with the bed linen, one designer has suggested, which is a "fun and simple place to start".Writing in the Ventura County Star, Mary Carol Garrity said that it is important to first examine whether the bed matches the scale of the room and its owner's decorating style - if not, it may be time to go shopping.
Adding a quilt or duvet on top of the bed linen is also a great way to give the whole look one more interesting layer and break up the expanse of the base blanket, she advised.
"For our sample bed, we paired our quilt with a tailored bed skirt made of cream linen," added the designer.
"A white eyelet lace or navy bed skirt would also look wonderful with the ensemble."
In an interview with the Financial Times recently, furniture guru Giorgio Busnelli emphasised the importance of a splash of colour created by a carpet or accessory in the bedroom.
