An exhibition in India has displayed an interesting array of bed linen inspired by cultures around the world.
People looking for kids' bedding with a difference could soon be enjoying the creations of a number of budding designers from the Indian city of Chennai, after an annual textile exhibition showcased the work of Stella Maris College students. The display, which was held at the Madras Terrace House, featured Lahari Chevuturi's Manchatantra collection, inspired by the animal stories of traditional Indian folklore, expressbuzz.com reports.
"When I conducted a market survey, I learnt that there isn't much of Indian-inspired bed linen for kids," the student told the news provider.
"And of course, I grew up listening to the stories of the stork and the crab so maybe some part of me wanted to recreate my childhood."
Also on show was a collection by Gyana Raghavan based on the Japanese art of origami, incorporating both two-dimensional and three-dimensional foldings.
Meanwhile, those who wish to take a different approach have been informed that nautical themes are likely to be in vogue where duvet covers are concerned this summer, according to the Times.
