Quality bedding is 'central to sleep health' The only way a person can claim to have great health is to ensure that good quality sleep is achieved through any means necessary, according to an expert in a recent interview.

In conversation with the Desert Sun, rest expert Dr Peter Fotinakes said that the choice of bedding that a person makes, as well as their selection of mattress, can be both the cause and cure of health problems, including foul moods or poor performance in their job.

A mattress should only be used for between eight and ten years, he added.

"If your mattress isn't comfortable, you tend [to] change position frequently," Dr Fotinakes continued.

"Every time you do, your sleep is disturbed. The worse the mattress, the more often you need to change position [and] the less restful your sleep will be."

Recent statistics from Wedbush reported by the Seattle Times revealed that, in February, mattress and box-spring sales jumped by no less than 16 per cent - 50 times the rise registered in the previous month.
