Spring clean your bedding, homeowners urged
Published: 29 April 2010
Wash out your bed spread, pillowcases and clean out your bedding this spring.
Spring cleaning should start with your bedroom this season. Simply washing out bed linen, pillowcases and bed spreads is not enough.Homeowners should thoroughly check their bedding for the presence of any bedbugs that might disrupt their night's rest, according to a pest control professional in an interview with the Houston Press.
Only a rigorous, thorough clean-out can ensure homes are rid of these parasitic pests.
Mathew Mishler, a pest control professional, told the newspaper of the warning signs that people should watch out for.
He said: "Pull back the beds, look at the sheets ... take the headboard off. Look at the headboard. Pull the drawers out in the cabinets and look there. What you'll see is faecal matter and then the husks."
Heeding this advice will help homeowners, as a bedbug-infested bedroom not only disrupts sleep but can also poses serious health risks.
