Spring is 'time to use sustainable materials'

In a world that is becoming more aware of the impact of humanity on the earth, people are striving for ecological bedding, bed linen and furniture - and one woman agrees with this as part of spring redesign.
Organic cotton bed linen and bamboo offerings are something people may consider when being ecologically-aware in bedroom design, though sustainable materials may come into play with other new design purchases this month, according to an expert.Writing for the St Louis Post-Dispatch, Aisha Sultan said that people reimagining their bedroom should consider using reclaimed wood as part of their overall look, as it brings a certain charm to the boudoir.
Noting the practical applications of the material, she explained: "Antique wood flooring is highly coveted and old barn beams can be remade into fireplace mantels.
"Distressed wood from old barns can be remade into wood counter tops."
Ms Sultan added that it could look both rustic without treatment, as well as very polished with a little bit of varnish, making it flexible with bedding choices in the sleeping space.
Recently, the V-Blog said people may consider getting a good storage bed as a means of hiding away bed linen and other particulars in order to save on space and reduce clutter.
