Bedding and paintbrush fans alike may want to use this weekend as a time to relax, recuperate and redecorate according to one writer, who says that bedding can be used to great effect to spruce up a room.

Bank holiday 'good to change look of bedroom' Bank holiday is the perfect time to signal in change, one writer believes.

Elaine Gore, the director of Lifestyle Interiors, said that interior decorating ought to change with the seasons in one way or another to keep things fresh - something which may help people get in the mood to do a little more with their bed linen.

She said of the bedroom: "Simple, neutral colours on most walls work well with feature wall decor, the 'in' colours this summer are bright and bold particularly unusual mixes such as yellow, purple, coral and cobalt blue."

By using these shades on one or more walls, contrasting or matching cushions, curtains, bedding or bed throws could be used to add depth to the design, Ms Gore added.

Last month, experts at My Little Train Room said that parents need to make a child's bedroom both safe and healthy - perhaps inspiring some to buy organic cottonduvet covers as part of their investment.
