Bedding 'should help sleepers maintain correct temperature'
Published: 06 August 2009
Keeping cool when trying to get some sleep is important, as being too hot or too cold can lead to restlessness, one newspaper warns.
Getting hot under the duvet cover is not conducive to getting a good night's sleep, it has been reported. The New York Times is urging people to keep their bedroom between 15 and 20 degrees C, as conditions too far below or above this can lead to restlessness.
By ensuring this temperature is maintained, the decrease in core body temperature takes place, and this initiates sleepiness.
People who are too warm struggle to fall asleep, so a wise choice of bed linen is needed.
"A slightly cool room and a lower core temperature are optimal for sleep," the newspaper concludes.
Less is more works for temperature as well as a summer bedding look, Ocala reported this week.
The news provider advised people to choose bright and white bed linen.
