Car crash survivor in bed the entire time

Many people may wonder how it's possible to be surrounded by bedding and asleep in bed when involved in a major car crash. If you're asleep in your house at the time, though, like John Waters, it may be surprisingly likely.

Car crash survivor in bed the entire time John Waters, a great-grandfather from Hampshire, must've thought it was a bad dream.

However, the 78-year-old's minor cuts and bruises were real, when a Ford Focus RS crashed through his bedroom wall and pushed both John and his bedding across the floor before causing bricks, fixings and other items to cover him as he lay in bed.

His Grade II listed home was his last Sunday evening, taking out a corner wall but not resulting in the rest of his beautiful abode falling apart from the shock.

Explaining the entire situation he was in while surrounded by bed linen, Mr Waters said: "I was in bed asleep and I heard this tank-like noise.

"I thought it was an army vehicle coming down the road and then before I knew where I was I had all the brickwork, the window frames and the radiator and goodness knows what else all over me."

Whatever the bill is for the damage, it won't be anywhere near the cost of a bed recently bought by the Russian foreign office, which invested £450,000 in a king-sized cherry wood bed covered in 24-carat gold.
