Swapping bed linen 'mundane, but necessary'
Published: 07 August 2009
Household chores often lead to household nagging about who will change the bed linen, pillowcase or duvet cover, but men are prime culprits for ignoring responsibilities, it has been claimed.
Bed-linen appears to be the domain of women when it comes to dividing household chores between the sexes, it has been claimed. In an article for the Daily Mail, Lucy Cavendish pointed out that women are often left doing the more mundane practical things such as the laundry and changing the bed linen.
She notes that household chores are a continuous tussle between the sexes, suggesting that women often resort to nagging partners about making sure they play their part.
However, she admits that both men and women dislike chores and the process of getting the other to carry them out.
Ms Cavendish admitted that in her experience, inaction by male partners often leaves swapping bed linen regularly and doing the laundry and ironing in the hands of the woman of the house.
Her comments follow claims by Elizabeth Roehrig in an article for Country Living, recommending Egyptian cotton.
Ms Roehrig suggests that organic and Egyptian cottons are often highly sort after because they deliver extra comfort.
They may even provide an extra incentive for couples to change their sheets themselves.
