Having separate mattresses could be the answer for warring couples.

Couples 'should invest in separate mattresses' Couples who struggle to sleep because of their bed partner's sleep habits should consider investing in two mattresses, it has been suggested.

This way, each person can select a mattress best suited to their sleeping style, without being an inconvenience, noted wlbt.com.

President of the Sleep Experts Christine Cook explained: "In our busy lifestyles, sleep is important and if it requires separate beds, then they're purchasing different beds."

She noted that in the past, this was virtually unheard of, but has since become more acceptable among younger and older couples alike.

Should a new mattress not do the trick, people may want to consider what they do in their everyday lives that is preventing them sleeping properly.

Director of the psychology department at the Cleveland Clinic Canada in Toronto Jacqueline M Brunshaw emphasised that bad habits during the day are often behind poor sleep.
