Firmness of a mattress 'down to personal taste'
Published: 31 August 2010
People need to appreciate that the comfort of a mattress is down to personal preference.
Buying a new mattress is no easy task, but one of the main rules is that it must be best suited to a person's sleeping style, it has been claimed. The Bermuda Sun pointed out that what is good for one person is unlikely to be the same for another, so there is no substitute for trying a bed out first hand.
People with back pain, for example, will need different features from their mattress than those without, the piece explained, which is worth taking into account when making a purchase.
"Some experts say that people who sleep on their back usually benefit from firm mattresses that offer support to fill in the gaps in the contours of the back," it continued.
It has been suggested by wlbt.com that purchasing two separate mattresses could be the answer for couples who struggle to agree on their sleeping arrangements.
