Shoppers need to make sure they take their time when it comes to choosing a brand new mattress, it has been said.As a third of a person's life is spent in bed, settling for second-best is not an option, an article for the San Diego Union Tribune suggested.
Cori Faulkner, manager of Everett Stunz in La Jolla told the news provider: "A mattress is the most important piece of furniture you'll buy.
"Take your time shopping and get the best one for your budget, because how you sleep affects your waking hours."
She advised that buyers look for a mattress that will offer them both lift and support, as well as plenty of cushion to ensure a comfortable night's sleep.
Students were recently advised to invest in a mattress protector before going to university, as this can help keep dust mites and bed bugs at bay.
