Decorating a bedroom for children should harness the power of bright colours, with one writer highlighting the use of bedding and duvet covers alongside splashes of paint to bring this effect to the space.

Children's rooms 'need bright bedding for colour' With the help of a local charity, one decorating diva has emphasised the role of bright bedding in the design of the perfect children's bedroom.

Reporting for the News Leader, Linda Leicht spoke of the redesigning of a local foster home, which included the use of bright colours to make children feel more comfortable in their new surroundings.

Ms Leicht said the use of carpet tiles meant colour could be swapped in and out tile by tile, with walls not needing paint to bring life to the room.

She continued: "Even a room painted with a muted colour can be spiced up with bright bedding and colourful pictures."

This week, Ben Weissman of the Home Improvement Blog recommended that adults looking to redesign their bedroom should choose earthy pastel colours for their makeover, with splashes of reds, golds and greens.
