Sorting out a new look for the bedroom alongside new bed linen or organic cotton duvet covers may just require the person to walk around the house and find something to put in a different place, it is believed.

Decorating the bedroom 'may only need browse around the house' Everyone's trying to save money in the recession, which is probably why American Profile has come up with a basic yet good tip for people to follow when redecorating their home.

Instead of going to the shops to complement a new set or just a simple change of bedding, people should instead take a tour of their own house to see if anything there is worth reusing elsewhere, such as paintings and ornaments.

Failing that, a person may instead want to buy some paint and go over old furniture to give it an entirely new appeal.

Shannon Kaye, a designer with the DIY Network's Fresh Coat, said of repurposing items: "A sideboard from the dining room may make a beautiful entertainment centre in the family room. Or, turn a single bed into a luxurious daybed for the sunroom or living room."

Recently, the Toledo Blade recommended that individuals ought to get more festive cheer in their homes, using decorations, trees and a limited number of colours to make their home look welcoming and festive.
