Self-expression 'necessary' for bedding in teenager's room
Published: 11 December 2009
Teenagers should be encouraged to choose their own memory foam mattress or luxury Egyptian cotton bed linen when their bedroom is redecorated, according to an expert.
Teenagers are usually expected to choose their own direction in life, so why not give them the extra chance to show individuality with their decor?Sarah Lynam, a spokeswoman for PBteen, told SILive.com this week that a bedroom must always reflect its owner, so it is extra important to consult younger ones on their choices of bed linen, bedding and duvet covers .
"I think for a long time they've wanted to show off their style and personalities. Now there are a lot more options available that allow them to pick and choose what's going to reflect their personality," Ms Lynam asserted.
It must, however, be a long-term investment and not something that a person can grow tired of, should the purchase be something major like a memory foam mattress.
The State-Journal Register recently stated that children should always have input on wall colour as part of redecoration, though it should not be a more contentious shade such as hot pink.
