Shoppers given temporary bedding for the night
Published: 23 December 2009
While it was not true luxury bed linen, the chance to stay on bedding of any sort was snapped up by shoppers at John Lewis recently, who were stuck due to snow drifts.
The chance to escape this weekend's weather has been snapped up by many people out of their own freewill, but others were forced to stay overnight - in the bed department of a major high street store.Shoppers in High Wycombe found their cars to be utterly useless in the recent snow drifts and so were forced to stay in John Lewis after the managers at the store also found themselves in the same predicament.
Managing director of the firm Deborah Strazza ended up getting bed linen out and putting it on some of the many beds available to customers, meaning they could kip in comfort as the storm passed.
She said: "There was no way that I was going to throw customers out into that, or my own partners, and we just had to make use of what we had got. It was so sweet - the kids absolutely loved it. They thought they were in Toy Story."
Davina McCall was also similarly hit by the snow, spending the night in the back seat of a car on the A12 after getting stuck in snow near Tunbridge Wells last Thursday (December 17th).
