Bedsheets 'must be kept clean'
Published: 20 February 2009
People who find it hard to generate the desire to wash their bed linen should beware - dust mites are on the rise and a lack of bedding washes could mean the difference between a small amount of creatures and ten million of them.
Bed users - in other words, pretty much all of you - should vacuum and clean the bed as often as possible, otherwise the dust mites may just take over.According to SweetDreamzz, bedding must be carefully taken care of because many people simply do not know how unclean it can get with the help of microscopic insects.
Highlighting just how bad it can sometimes get, the company stated: "A typical mattress is reported to have anywhere from 100,000 to ten million dust mites in it."
"If your comfortable pillow is at least two years old or more, ten per cent of its weight is more than likely composed of dead mites and fecal droppings."
This follows a well-documented outbreak of bedbugs in the Canadian city of Toronto, the insect capable of feeding on the blood of those who bed down in sheets which are left unwashed.
