People struggling to get sleep on a night, despite a great investment in high-quality bed linen such as Egyptian cotton which can provide comfort, may want to improve their window arrangement with the purchase of thick curtains.

Recommendations were made by FemaleFirst, which outlined several tips to get the best kip possible, highlighting the fact we all spend around 106 days a year in close contact with our bedding.

It continued: "Make your bedroom a place for sleeping. Try to use blackout blinds or dark curtains and reduce noisy distractions such as telephones and pets."

The news provider added that the right mattress could be another issue, with memory foam being a popular choice for many.

Earlier this month, the Daily Telegraph's top tip dispenser stated that a good-sized dollop of peanut butter in the frying pan when cooking fish is the best way to prevent smells getting into your new curtains.
