Addressing bed linen will 'cut down on chance of hay fever'
Published: 03 February 2010
The chance of getting hay fever early in the year may be quelled if a person ensures they keep their bed linen and duvet covers clean and tidy, according to one news agency.
People with hay fever may want to make the most of a cleanliness drive in the bedroom, as a bit of spring cleaning may be all that's needed in order make the whole area easier to tolerate, it has been said.According to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa), avoiding pollen in the home should begin with the use of dusters around the home, taking into account all even surfaces as well as any textiles whatsoever, such as curtains and rugs.
Pollen is a clingy substance that sticks to these, so people must be pretty intensive with their cleaning, especially with bedding.
The dpa continued: "Bed linen should be washed every one to two weeks and clothing every three to four days. Items belonging to the person who suffers allergies should not be hung outside to dry."
Hay fever affects an estimated 20 per cent of the UK population, according to the NHS.
