Adjustable beds 'could need new take on bedding'

People may want to reconsider their choice of bed linen in light of developments in the bed industry itself, with new technologies dominating line-ups across Europe and the US.

Individuals are exactly that, and as a result even couples are split down the middle when it comes to their ideal comfort levels when sharing a bed.

This is why many beds and mattresses are being split down the middle as well, the New York Times has revealed, shedding a whole new light on the world of bed linen.

The newspaper popped along to the 2010 Las Vegas Market furniture show and noted how a loved one's bad sleeping habits may be avoided by the desire of an increasing number of people to invest in beds and mattresses which are more customisable and adjustable by the year.

Many of these offerings will not be able to work with one set of luxury bed linen for a double bed; instead they need two single sets of bedspreads and similar bedding.

"If he or she wants the mattress softer, you can order it half-and-half, like a pizza, firm on one side for you, softer for him or her," said Joyce Wadler, a bed expert attending the conference.

Recently, Mary Beth Breckenridge of the Akron Beach Journal asserted that when choosing a mattress, it is a matter of comfort only and "that's a highly individual and subjective matter".
