If a bedroom is to be the best it can be in terms of becoming a sanctuary for the individual, lavender and chocolate colours may be the best ones to adopt, it is believed.

Chocolate bedding, lavender hues are 'great for retreat' The way one woman is approaching her bedroom may show there is an optimised way to approaching the design of a relaxing bedroom.

As a financial counsellor, Monica Tufts-Rawlings spends between 40 and 60 hours a week doing her job and told the Greenville News about how she planned to develop a relaxing bed to unwind each evening, harnessing hues in bed linen and walls.

Her bedroom and bathroom now both have soft lavender colours infused with greys, while softer lighting all contribute to the overall feeling,.

However, it is the chocolate-coloured bedding which makes Ms Tufts-Rawlings happy with her home perhaps most, however.

She added: "My whole home is designed around comfort. I can plop anywhere because the whole home is just serene to me."

Laurent Billiet recently told the Galway Advertiser that the use of king size bed linen in a small bedroom is unnecessary as there should never be big bedding in there in the first place, preferring more modestly-sized beds for more restricted spaces.
