Feng shui is 'great mantra' for bedroom
Published: 19 February 2010
While many people may use bed linen and duvet covers in certain colours to instil calm through Feng Shui techniques, individuals must take a few other things into account, it is believed.
Many Feng Shui-minded individuals may already be using a few tricks to get themselves as relaxed as possible, including certain colours in their bedding, such as duvet covers and bedspreads.Dr Michael Smith, a home improvement expert writing for Associated Content, gave a few more expert tips for those hoping to build on foundations like this.
He explained that, by removing all electronic devices from the room such as computers, TVs and exercise equipment, positive energy will stay in the room as powered items can disrupt this.
Windows should be used to allow for lots of fresh air to enter the or, failing that, an individual must be sure they have a good air purifier, as good Feng Shui in a room requires a space free of pollutants.
Plants are not good Feng Shui in a bedroom, Dr Smith continued, unless the person has a room large enough to place them far from the bed.
Finally, he said that lighting is very important and several levels of lighting ought to be used, or a dimmer fitted, to allow for lighting adjustments.
Dr Smith is an interior and kitchen designer with over 20 years of experience and is kitchen editor for How We Live magazine, member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association and an Ask the Design Expert panel member.
