Silvio is bedding down in Napoleonic way
Published: 26 February 2010
Silvio Berlusconi will be undoubtedly buying top-quality bedding, such as Egyptian cotton bed linen, to likely match his recent strange purchase: a bed which formerly belonged to Napoleon.
Perhaps it's a case of admiration for the former historical leader or an attempt to maintain an illusion of grandeur. He may just like the bed. Either way, Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has invested in the bed which formerly belonged to Napoleon. The former French emperor's bedstead was bought by Berlusconi recently, though the 73-year-old has already angered many by claiming that he wants to extend it in order to fit king-size bedding on it.
Napoleon's bed has a canopy, bronze eagle heads and four posters and was bought through his antique-dealing pal Annamaria Quattrini.
She said: "Silvio is a very dear friend. I have known him for 25 years and met him when he came into my shop looking for a desk for his villa."
He has likely invested in the best bed linen to match it too, such as an Egyptian cotton collection to ass sumptuous sheets to the remarkable piece of history.
Berlusconi is an extremely successful entrepreneur and is the owner of AC Milan football club.
Lie back and relax... on beautiful Egyptian linen
