Want to get the most out of a luxury bed linen purchase? Sleeping under the same conditions as a baby may be the perfect way to relax on an evening.

Sleeping like a baby 'is more literal advice than many realise' People in the UK struggling to get to sleep despite a luxury bedding purchase to improve their comfort levels have been recommended a basic tip: sleep like a baby.

Such is the view of Dr Luis Rivera of the Philippine Society of Sleep Medicine, who told ABS-CBN News that there are many common sleeping principles for a vast variety of age groups, whether they are babies or middle-aged.

The body repair cells and tissues overnight and as a result it has been recommended that people should have a body without stimulants such as coffee, tea or cigarettes - just like babies - and they will embrace their bedding with added vigour and relaxation.

Dr Riviera continued: "For older children and adults, lessen computer time. Your mind is still so active.

"So essentially, it's winding down particular activities for that age - computer, sports, work, TV - once you're hitting the time for sleep"

Older people may not need as much sleep as their younger counterparts however, according to a new study by the University of Surrey, which believes that people around the age of 70 only need around six to seven hours of rest a night.
