Do French babies sleep better?

New book claims French structure makes babies sleep better.
A controversial new book claims that French parenting style allows babies to sleep better than their European and American counterparts.Pamela Druckerman’s Bringing Up Bebe is based on the observations of the ex-pat American mother on the so called polite and self-contained French children.
According to Ms Druckerman, the key to getting children to sleep through the night is to follow the French parenting model of structure.
Imposing order on babies from day one will, the author claims, prevent children from being selfish and impatient, which leads to many sleeping problems.
The philosophy behind this technique is the mind-set that having children is simply a part of life and once they are born life must go on as before.
French parents are also against swaddling newborns, as they believe it causes breathing problems.
Ensuring babies have the right bedding is essential to allow both parents and children to get a good night’s sleep.
