Is a teddy your secret bedfellow?
Published: 21 February 2012
Many British adults still sleep with their teddy bear, research reveals.
Many of us will no doubt have secret behaviour that we do not want to be made public, much of which will have originated from childhood. It would seem that one of the habits we Brits have found ourselves hiding is sleeping with a teddy, with 35 per cent of adults admitting to using the bear to de-stress and help them drift off, UPI reported.
In a survey by Travelodge, it was revealed that one-in-ten single men hide their teddy when girlfriends stay over, while 14 per cent of married men stash their teddy away when family and friends come to visit.
Men also have a greater bond with their bears than women, with 15 per cent admitting that they treat their teddy as their best friend.
The discovery was made when the hotel chain recorded more than 75,000 forgotten bears left behind, not all of which belonged to children.
Many who have resisted the pull of the teddy bear, however, find themselves hugging their bedding, so it is important it is of a high quality to be a good substitute for childhood relics.
