Top tips for a good night's sleep
Published: 02 February 2012
Sleep deprived Brits should follow tips for a top snooze.
With some ten million prescriptions for sleeping pills handed out in 2011 to insomniac Brits, it would seem that we are a nation in need of sleeping advice. One of the best ways to secure a good night's sleep is to invest in luxury bed lining, so that your bedding is soft, hypoallergenic and inviting.
Marianne Davey, sleep expert, also told the Sun that setting a regular bedtime is vital to get the body into a routine.
People should avoid booze before bed, in addition to cigarettes, which can cause sleep disruption as the body craves more during the night.
Turning off technology has also become increasingly important in the modern age, as Brits are consistently woken by texts, tweets and Facebook messages.
Furthermore, exercise and maintaining a comfortable room temperature will aid people in dropping off. Ms Davey advises keeping the room between 16 and 18 degrees C.
Perhaps most importantly, Brits should not clock watch as it prevents the body from relaxing and falling into a natural sleep.
