Child's bedroom 'must only use favourite colours as accent'
Published: 09th March 2010
When incorporating colours that a child loves into their bedroom, it should only ever be done with changeable items or painted areas, perhaps using duvet covers and other bed linen to bring in the hues.
Because children are known for their changing tastes, parents should not commit to a certain colour when decorating a room or buying furniture, it has been underlined.
Writing for the Canwest News Service, Marc Atiyolil said that mothers and fathers across the world must always invest in neutral-coloured furniture. While a daughter might love pinks and purples now, he said, "it doesn't mean she will in a few years, so I would stay away from the bright pink dresser".
The same goes for the walls; he explained that a neutral colour is best, though a design can be given "punch" by using favourite colours as the accent colour. Matching bed linen and colourful duvet covers may complete the look without being permanent.
