Better beds: latex or memory foam?
Published: 07 January 2009
When people are looking for a new mattress, many will question whether or not it is worth investing in latex or memory foam. One bedding expert has given the new bed buyer a good idea of what to look for.
Memory foam and latex mattresses are becoming more popular in the modern bedroom, with many people confused about what to look for - something one expert wants to remedy.American bed provider the Water Works Sleep Center said that for more eco-conscious people, latex is much more natural than memory foam, although the latter is increasingly using soy extracts.
In terms of the feel, the firm continued: "More people initially respond with a more positive first impression to all natural latex mattresses. With that said, memory foam still out-sells latex mattresses across the country."
Finally, it was noted that people should simply try the styles themselves, as many people treat such beds with a love or hate relationship.
Healthy Foundations, a memory foam specialist, said latex mattresses had a better core than that provided by inner springs, with foam cores not being as substantial.
