Passionate design 'rules the roost' in the bedroom

Do away with your white sheets this new year and invest in colourful bedspreads, duvet covers and bed linen, a fashion specialist says, with unobtrusive patterns characterising the current market for bedding at the moment.
Colours and understated patterns are the way forward in bedding this year, according to a Canadian interior design expert.Jane Harrison, writing for the Calgary Herald, said that a passionate room needed good basic styles of bedding, with the new year providing "restraint and good taste" in most bedding lines.
She continued: "Not like that's a bad thing. During many years past, good basics were hard to find. This year they abound, making it an ideal time to replenish the linen closet."
Ms Harrison sang the praises of Egyptian cotton, adding that getting it in colours such as sage, copper, maroon and dull gold will bring more life into the boudoir.
Saachin Mandloi, a bedding expert, said an investment in Egyptian cotton was a good one due to the luxurious feel the textile can give.
