Instead of having the luxury of one night in a five-star hotel and its perfect bedding, one can spend the same money on their own bed and get it up to scratch, creating a bed linen beauty in the bedroom.

Any person can turn their bed into one of five-star quality by spending the same amount of money on bedding as they would for a night in a five-star hotel, according to an expert.

People need to think of the future when considering such an investment, according to Olga Polizzi of the Guardian.

"It may feel like an extravagance to buy all this at once but it will provide months and months of comfort," she asserted.

Ms Polizzi said a good duvet made from feathers or down is spot-on to get the luxury feel, with a cotton duvet cover also enhancing the experience of the bed.

Bedsheets and duvet covers can also give the bed a cosier feeling if they are large enough to hang close to the floor.

Recently, the Statesman Journal's Julie Starr Hook stated that a down duvet is a great buy over the long term despite the initial cost.
