Bedrooms 'must focus on sleep and not technology'
Published: 11 January 2010
The increasing reliance on technology-based entertainment is pervading the bedroom and should be vanquished in favour of an increased focus on bedding, it has been said.
People may be struggling to sleep on a night, though the problem is likely to do with a health regime, it has been explained.Dr Frank Lipman of the Huffington Post explained how an "electronic sundown" may be what people need to excel in getting the most from good quality bed linen and duvet covers, as sitting in front of a TV or laptop can create chaos for the brain as they are too stimulating and can cause a person to stay awake longer.
He noted that, by embracing bedding for short naps of no longer than 30 minutes, providing they are before 16:00, people will also avoid disrupting night-time sleep schedules.
Last week, a call to arms for bedding lovers was announced, as Knaresborough's world-famous Bed Race will turn 45 this month and is asking for people to join up and raise money for charity by jumping into their bedroom-based chariots and running around the market town.
