Customising bed linen 'may not be cost effective'
Published: 18 January 2010
A woman looking to save money by customising her existing bed linen has been told it'll likely be cheaper and more successful to invest in more, particularly given mattress changes over the years.
One woman's idea to cut down either king or queen-size bedding to fit a twin-size bed has been rebuffed by an interior design expert.A lady called Ann Marie said she has had problems with finding modern-looking bedding to match her grand ideas, and while Claudia Jacobs, the specialist writing for the Times Herald-Record, said she can do it by all means, it may not be the best way to save money.
She said that bargains a-plenty are to be had on the internet and it could be the same price, if not cheaper, than tailoring a larger size to fit the mattress, particularly given that newer mattresses are much deeper than those of a few years ago.
Martha Stewart, one of the leading homemakers in the US, recently said that undertaking a home-improvement project is an "energising way to begin the new year" and a great way to carry it off is through the use of new bed linen.
