Accent pieces will be used by homeowners to keep their rooms looking fresh without breaking the bank, according to an interior design firm.

Accent pieces help freshen interiors on a budget Using accent pieces may become more popular in bedroom interior design this year, as homeowners attempt to improve the look of their property without breaking the bank.

Detailed pieces such as large print wallpaper and even the odd colourful cushion added to a bed will be used to keep homes looking fresh without making major expensive changes, according to Egerton Designs.

A spokeswoman for the company explained that this approach could be beneficial for those looking to sell their home too.

"In order to add value to the property, they would be well advised to spend some spare cash on freshening up their interiors so as to give their properties that 'wow' factor, for potential purchasers to notice, as soon as they enter the property, thereby getting a fast sale," she added.

Hill House Interiors also believes wallpaper will play a more prominent role in refurbishments this year.

Textured wallpapers in bold colours are becoming more popular, according to the designers, perhaps alongside more classic pieces such as bookcases.
