Bed linen care 'can help ease hay fever'
Published: 06 July 2009
Hay fever sufferers are being advised to consider how they use their bed linen and bedrooms this summer in a bid to reduce their symptoms.
Those who suffer with hay fever - up to two in ten Brits - are being advised to consider their use of bed linen and bedroom when trying to ease their coughing, itchy eyes, sneezing and runny noses.Bedding should not be hung on the line when pollen counts are high, Boots pharmacist Angela Chalmers tells the Press and Journal.
This will ensure pollen does not get trapped in the bed linen and transferred to the bedroom, potentially causing nights of suffering.
She also advises taking off outdoor clothes before entering the bedroom to further prevent pollen from getting into the room and disturbing sleep.
Hay fever usually occurs during spring and summer months, with variations depending on which pollens sufferers are allergic to.
