Egyptian cotton 'needed' for hotel-style bed
Published: 23 July 2009
Many people want to attain the feel of a hotel in their bedroom, though to achieve this, Egyptian cotton bed linen is needed to add that little touch of luxury to proceedings, according to bedding experts.
In order to create a bed in your home which feels like a hotel offering, Egyptian cotton is a necessary investment, according to experts in bedding.Lombok explained that the finest linens are made from 100 per cent Egyptian cotton and it is a great purchase as it feels softer on the skin and lasts a lot longer than other "inferior" fibres, which can be known to pill and separate after several washes.
While Egyptian cotton can be found between 180 and 1,000 threads per square inch, buyers should look to getting between 300 and 400, Lombok added, noting that a sateen linen of this kind can really enhance the look of a bed.
It concluded: "For a more textured and fluffy finish, a flannel linen is an ideal choice. It's surface is brushed after weaving for a much cosier warmth come the winter months."
However, Mark Leevan of the Examiner also recently recommended organic cotton for the more ecologically-conscious buyer.
