A quality pillow is vital when it comes to getting a good night's sleep, one body suggests.

The American Down and Feather Council (ADFC) points out that whether you sleep on your side, back or stomach the correct pillow should support the head and help align the neck and spine.

Down and feathers are the perfect filling for pillows, as they adjust to the sleeper's position, the body points out.

It adds that those who like softness should opt for a 100 per cent down pillow, while people who prefer a firm place to rest their weary head may prefer feathers only in their pillow.

Having found the perfect pillow, it should be kept in good condition by using a pillowcase protector and being washed and dried when needed, the ADFC continues.

Down and feather pillows can be used in both summer and winter, as they trap air but allow moisture to escape and adjust to body heat, it adds.
