Madoff 'mad for bedroom glamour'
Published: 01 July 2009
The king of the Ponzi scheme Bernard Madoff put a lot of money into his bedroom's decor, investing in extremely high-end bed linen and comforters for his day-to-day living. Just a shame the money was stolen!
Bernard Madoff, who literally made off with billions of pounds of other people's money in a good-looking yet ultimately dodgy pyramid scheme, wasn't one to skimp on bedroom luxury, it has been reported. The New York Daily News gave lucky readers a photographic insight into the fraudster's flat in Manhattan, which he and his wife will never see again - unless 71-year-old Bernard's able to live out his 150-year jail term.
Chinese porcelains and a beautiful ornate fireplace decorated the master bedroom, with a four-poster Georgian bed being adorned with the finest bed linen money can buy.
Antique lamps and valuable impressionist paintings also showed the more lavish side of Bernard, though the canopied mattress and its stunning bedding took pride of place to dominate the shot.
Recently, another art collector - Ezra Merkin - has been forced to sell his huge collection of art after much of it was funded by Madoff money from bad investments.
