Memory foam hits new dictionary The Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary has undergone another major update, with a further 100 entries being added to the tome - including a particularly popular new term from the bedding market.

Memory foam has finally broken into the essential book, with the compilers detecting its first use in an English-language publication all the way back in 1987.

It is joined by a host of other terms from around the globe, including 'frenemy' - someone who pretends to be a friend yet is, in reality, an enemy - and the ever more popular term 'carbon footprint'.

Other terms - such as vlog and webisode - have also showed the popularity of new technology in determining new words in the dictionary.

This month, it was revealed that memory foam is now being used in a key component of brassieres being produced by a European firm as it creates a perfect-fitting solution for many ladies.
