One Sutton man has put his bed spread and mattress through the wars, having broken three beds.Forty four-year-old Ian Pike has replaced his mattress three times in the last two years, but is angry at the way the bed shop dealt with the issue.
He said that Benson for Beds, where he had made the original purchase and which replaced the subsequent broken mattresses, had told him he was sleeping on the bed in the wrong way.
Speaking to the Telegraph, Mr Pike described the situation as "totally ridiculous".
He added: "I'm an 18-stone geezer so it needs to be a big bed.
"I couldn't believe it when they even told me I was lying on it the wrong way - how many ways are there to lie on a bed?"
Earlier this month, it emerged that a dad of five shed half of his body weight in pursuit of an uninterrupted night's sleep.
Seamus Saunders shed 25 stone in a bid to cure his sleep apnoea, which had prevented him from sleeping for more than 45 minutes each night.
